Gloria Negrete McLeod
House, California, District #35
4959 Palo Verde Street, Suite 110B,
Montclair, CA 91763
Prior to serving in Congress, Gloria began her career in public service as a board member -- and then president -- of the Chaffey Community College Board before being elected to California’s State Assembly in 2000 and State Senate in 2006. With almost two decades as a locally-elected leader, Gloria has worked to ensure the affordability and access to higher education and enhance the quality of healthcare.
Gloria is also an advocate for women. As former Chair of the California Legislative Women’s Caucus, she worked to ensure that all elected women were unified in the fight to help women and families during tough economic times. As an Assembly and Senate member, Gloria also served on the board of the State of California’s Commission on the Status of Women that exists to advocate for the women and girls of California. The Commission creates a public policy agenda that shows unique ways the state and private sector businesses can better serve the needs of women and families.
Gloria and her husband Gilbert L. McLeod, a retired police lieutenant, have lived in the district for more than 43 years, raising 10 children, 27 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren.
