Bio
Her commitment to her children and public service inspired Mary Jo to first enter public life in 1992 as a member of the Columbus School Board.
For the past six years she has served as Franklin County Commissioner.
Mary Jo has balanced every budget she has ever faced as an elected official.
Under her leadership, Franklin County was ranked as one of the five best-managed counties in the country by Governing magazine.
Mary Jo will fight to restore fiscal sanity to the Federal budget, fix the Medicare prescription drug benefit, and honor our men and women in uniform and their dependents, whether on active duty, in the Guard and Reserve or as Veterans.
Mary Jo, 56, was born in 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio. The daughter of a pipefitter, her parents instilled in her the importance of hard work and education. Mary Jo graduated from Cleveland State University before earning a law degree from The Ohio State University.
After graduation she went into private practice with her husband Bob in Columbus. There she balanced the rigors of work and family by bringing her newborn daughters to work with her while she supported working families as a public interest lawyer.
