Statement on Carol Moseley Braun's Leaving Presidential Campaign

Thursday, January 15, 2004

The National Women's Political Caucus would like to salute Ambassador Carol Moseley Braun in her historic campaign for president. The support of her campaign by women voters proves the desire for candidates that speak directly to women's concerns. Moseley Braun has a 25-year record fighting for the rights of women at the local, state, national and international levels. NWPC will continue to build a true political power base for women, one that heeds women's voices, and legitimates the political aspirations of women who desire to seek the presidency.

The NWPC is deeply saddened to see Ambassador Carol Moseley Braun leave the United States presidential race. Braun has an outstanding record of commitment to the principles of equality for all Americans. The National Women's Political Caucus wishes her the best in all future endeavors and we believe she continues to have an important role to play in our nation's public policy.
